Help! i broke my headset!?

i usually use a very nice headset that i plug into my computers headset port. well, i stepped on the cord and kinda jerked the jack out of the port via a strong downward motion. not i cant hear anything from the headset. i know its the headset cuz i plugged in some ear buds and they work fine. did i tear some wiring? can the headset be saved?!
