Since Christ was the "Word" become flesh, is that not the Old Testament since the new did not yet exist?

And if Christ is the first letter to the last...Alpha to Omega or Aleph to Tav, why do so many Christians despise the Old Testament and their end-time prophecies? Do they then Despise the Word of God?
