New wii remote not detected by wii sports resort?

I got a new wii remote plus that came with the game wii party so now i have 2 remotes. They both work fine on wii party and wii sports but when i try to play wii sports resort it only detects one wii remote and says i need to connect it via the homepage. I dont understand!!! Why is it doing this???
